HONDA PREPARES ADVANCED AUTONOMOUS AND SAFETY TECHNOLOGY FOR FUTURE MOBILITY
Honda Sensing Elite and Honda Sensing 360 technologies are ready for use in the near future.
Future human mobility depends on vehicle products that offer technology and features that provide comfort, safety, and convenience. Travel demands are pretty significant, but is it sufficient to give the above factors?
As a mobility company, Honda Co., LTD presents various ideas and concepts of future mobility. Including technologies that can be applied to their products shortly. Honda presented this opportunity at the 27th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress 2021, which will take place in Hamburg, Germany, until October 15, 2021. In addition, Honda has also just introduced the latest security system through the Honda Sensing 360, which is planned to be marketed in China next year.
First, we get acquainted with the Honda Sensing Elite concept. Honda's advanced safety and driver assistance technologies were developed with a vision to eliminate human error in driving. Placing the highest priority on safety and reliability, Honda developed the "Traffic Jam Pilot" function, which allows the system to steer the vehicle, not the driver.

Automated driving technology that utilizes AI to make predictions or forecasts to avoid risks demonstrate cooperative behavior by communicating and understanding with other vehicles and studying driving and traffic environments to contribute to the realization of "zero traffic accidents" and the expansion of "freedom and mobility".
In addition, Honda also expressed Honda's participation and ideas in EUCAR L3Pilot, which is the EU's flagship project that tests the feasibility of Level 3 Automated Driving.
We are also acquainted with the Honda Safe Swarm. Honda's technology concept aimed at realizing a safe and smooth traffic flow through the use of connected car technology (e.g., internet connectivity and vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication).
In terms of supporting an emission-free future, Honda offers a data service concept for vehicles equipped with the Honda Mobile Power Pack. A system that combines information stored on a battery can be exchanged for a Honda Mobile Power Pack while the electric vehicle is in use and performs data analysis in the Cloud. By providing users with analyzed data, the system realizes stable power consumption.
In addition, Honda provided the concept of the Electric Road System, where Honda independently developed a system to supply power from road infrastructure and technology to charge electric vehicles while driving. Through fast charging of road infrastructure, while going, waiting times for charging will be shortened, the size of the installed battery will be minimized, and the range will be extended.
Most recently, Honda has just launched the Honda SENSING 360, an omnidirectional safety system to help drivers see multiple blind spots around the vehicle and reduce the risk of driving collisions.
Unlike the previous system, Honda SENSING 360 features a broader range at the front and rear and in an omnidirectional or 360-degree area around the vehicle with an additional 5 radar units in every corner of the car. Since its introduction in 2014, Honda SENSING's advanced safety and driver assistance system has further advanced its functionality, expanding its application to mass production models globally and supporting consumers in various driving situations.

There are several main features of the Honda Sensing 360 including:
Advancement of Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
As an advanced system of CMBS on Honda SENSING, CMBS for Honda SENSING 360 has a broader detection range that is extended from the front of the vehicle to cover all directions around the car. This allows the system to assist the driver in avoiding and reducing collisions from all orders.
Front Cross Traffic Warning
In this system, when the vehicle is traveling at a low speed or is stopped at a crossroads, the system will provide information to the driver about vehicles approaching the intersection from the side and front. When a collision risk with a nearby car is detected, the system will provide an audio warning and a visual warning on the cluster meter to alert the driver and prompt collision prevention measures.
Lane Change Collision Mitigation
When the vehicle changes lanes, the system will help avoid collisions with vehicles approaching from behind. When the system recognizes the risk of a crash with a car coming from the side of the blind spot behind the vehicle, the system will provide an audio warning and a visual warning on the cluster meter to warn the driver and steer the steering wheel to avoid a collision.
Active Lane Change Assist
When the driver is driving with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Low-SpeedFollow and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) activated on congested toll road conditions, the driver turns on the turn signal. The system will assist the steering wheel in making lane changes.
Cornering Speed Assist
When cornering on a freeway with the ACC system on, the system will adjust the vehicle speed accordingly. Using the front camera, the system detects the curvature of the lane before it reaches a bend and helps the driver pass the turn properly.
