GIIAS AUTOMOTIVE EXHIBITION 2021 GETS POSITIVE ACHIEVEMENTS AMID PANDEMIC

The exhibition attracted many people and will be back in August 2022.

The GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021, organized by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO), ended on Sunday, November 21, 2021. GIIAS 2021 has succeeded in fulfilling the hopes and goals initiated by GAIKINDO for the Indonesian automotive industry.

As a pioneer in organizing large exhibitions during the pandemic, the 28th GIIAS has received full attention and support from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.

GIIAS 2021 also received direct attention and support from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, who also made a working visit and took the time to try one of the electric cars at the GIIAS 2021 event.

The 15th GAIKINDO International Automotive Conference (GIAC) conference, which took place at GIIAS 2021, was also attended by government officials. It was opened by Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Finance of Indonesia Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Transportation Budi Karya. "The success of the GIIAS implementation cannot be separated from the support and direction given by the government, especially the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, as well as the Minister of Industry who has been involved in preparing and succeeding GIIAS 2021. It is an honor that GIIAS 2021 has also received great attention from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, for We are very grateful for that,” said the General Chairman of GAIKINDO, Yohannes Nangoi. 

According to Nangoi, the government has also given special attention to the health protocols implemented throughout the 2021 GIIAS implementation to ensure that the conditions and status of Covid-19 control during the pandemic are maintained.

Nangoi also revealed that the implementation of GIIAS this time has satisfied all parties, “It can be seen that all parties are happy with the implementation and achievements at this year's GIIAS. Visitors are happy because many new products and technologies are being introduced, the participants are happy because GIIAS 2021 can be a driving force for their achievements, and what is important is that GAIKINDO can show all parties, including the government, the achievements of the Indonesian automotive industry," said Nangoi. 

According to him, although GAIKINDO has never set sales as a target for GIIAS, currently, the achievements of all participants will be an essential factor driving the rise of the Indonesian automotive industry.

GIIAS 2021 also proved to be still a magnet for visitors. Even though in a pandemic condition and strict health protocols, GAIKINDO recorded public enthusiasm for GIIAS to be very high.

Rizwan Alamsjah, Chair III of GAIKINDO, as well as the Chairperson of the Organizer of GIIAS 2021, said that by changing the PPKM status for the Tangerang Regency area to level 1 before the exhibition took place, it also increased the number of visitors according to the maximum visitor capacity limit, as much as 75% of the total area of ​​the venue. 

"Since the beginning, the implementation of GIIAS 2021 has received a very positive response from the community, and visitors are enthusiastic about attending the exhibition area and preparing themselves with the terms and conditions of the health protocol set. The climax is that after Mr. Joko Widodo came, of course, it caused quite an extraordinary publication so that the number of visitors who came continued to increase, “explained Rizwan. 

A total of 293,252 visitors were recorded to be present throughout the implementation of GIIAS 2021; Rizwan explained that the potential for visitors could actually be greater than that number, but GAIKINDO still puts a limit on the ticket sales quota for each visiting session every day, to ensure the Covid-19 health protocol is maintained and visitors stay safe and comfortable.

The GIIAS 2021 will host the launch of the world premiere of 16 new vehicles, 21 electric vehicles, and 5 concept vehicles. Not only from four-wheeled vehicles but GIIAS was also chosen to introduce the latest 4 two-wheeled vehicles in Indonesia. “GIIAS remains the participant's choice to introduce the latest products and technology to the public, and this is an extraordinary achievement. And we hope that the GIIAS will give an impression to visitors and participants, as well as to restore the automotive industry in general," said Rizwan.

The highest appreciation was also given to all GIIAS 2021 participants, namely; Audi, BMW, Daihatsu, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, KIA, Lexus, Mazda, MG, Mini, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Suzuki, Toyota, VW, Wuling, from commercial vehicles; Isuzu, Hino, Mitsubishi Fuso, and Scania. as well as more than a hundred brands from the automotive supporting industry in Indonesia.

This year's GIIAS series has not been completed, automotive lovers in the Eastern Indonesia region will again be presented with the latest products and technologies from dozens of well-known brands in the automotive industry at GIIAS The Series in Surabaya, which will be present on 8-12 December 2021, which GAIKINDO believes will have an effect again, positive for the Indonesian automotive industry.

Next year, the GIIAS will be held again on 11-21 August 2022 at ICE-BSD Kab. Tangerang, "We hope that the pandemic conditions will continue to be controlled and Indonesia will get better, so that the plan for holding GIIAS next year will be carried out well," concluded Rizwan.
