Two points. That's the entire gap between Indomie Mi Goreng and the world's top-ranked instant noodle in 2026  and Indomie isn't even a soup.

Indomie Mi Goreng, Indonesia's fried instant noodle, placed second on Smarter Ranking's Best Instant Ramen 2026 list, scoring 87 out of 100. Only Nongshim Shin Ramyun from South Korea (89 points) ranked higher. The list, published April 28, 2026 and updated June 5, 2026, judged noodles on broth or seasoning, noodle texture, price, availability, and reputation among reviewers  including data from long-running review site The Ramen Rater, which has logged more than 5,500 instant noodle reviews over 20 years.

What Is the Smarter Ranking Best Instant Ramen List?

Smarter Ranking is a food scoring outlet that runs branded products through a fixed rubric called the Taste Score v2026. Flavor and broth carry the heaviest weight  35 of 100 points  with the rest split across texture, price, availability, and brand reputation. The panel doesn't taste-test in isolation; it cross-references established authorities in the ramen review space before locking in a score.

For 2026, the top five were Nongshim Shin Ramyun, Indomie Mi Goreng, Samyang Buldak, Nongshim Chapagetti, and Sapporo Ichiban. Nissin Cup Noodles and Maruchan Ramen rounded out the list at sixth and seventh.

Why Did Indomie Mi Goreng Score So High?

Because it doesn't try to be a soup. Smarter Ranking called it the best dry stir-fried instant noodle in the field, built around a sweet, savory, faintly spicy seasoning blend finished with fried-onion crunch and seasoned oil. The noodles hold a springy, chewy bite even after boiling and draining  a texture note reviewers flagged specifically.

There's a human detail most rankings skip: Indomie's flavor formula traces back to Nunuk Nuraini, a longtime Indofood employee credited with developing the Mi Goreng recipe and several of its spin-off variants. That's not marketing copy  it's product history that shows up in review after review.

How Much Does Indomie Mi Goreng Cost?
Part of its appeal is the price-to-flavor ratio. Smarter Ranking flagged it as one of the most affordable noodles on the entire list, widely available across Indonesian minimarkets, warungs, and supermarkets, and increasingly easy to find on international grocery shelves from the US to the UK. The tradeoff reviewers noted: portion size per pack runs smaller than soup-based competitors.

At a Glance

  • Rank: #2 of 7 globally
  • Score: 87 / 100 (Nongshim Shin Ramyun led with 89)
  • List published: April 28, 2026; updated June 5, 2026
  • Rubric: Taste & broth (35 pts) + texture, price, availability, reputation (65 pts)

Why This Matters for Indonesian Food Culture
Indomie has been a pantry staple across Southeast Asia, West Africa, and diaspora communities for decades, but a placement this high on an English-language global ranking pushes it into a different conversation  alongside Shin Ramyun and Buldak, noodles that built entire fandoms outside their home countries. For a product most Indonesians grew up eating without a second thought, that's a notable reframe.
