BTS MADE HISTORY AT AMA 2021
BTS beat Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and other American artists
BTS won Artist of the Year at the 2021 American Music Awards (21st AMA). BTS beat Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd in that category.
It also signifies that BTS has wiped out all of their nominated categories at the 2021 AMAs. The BTS members were so happy when they found out that it was hard to put it into words.
"I completely forgot what I wanted to say. Thank you, AMA; we are honored on this stage," said RM.
"Four years ago, we performed on stage for the first time. We were very nervous at that time. No one would have thought that we would receive this award, except for you ARMYs."
"Getting love and support from ARMY around the world. We never waste it, ARMY," said RM.

"We believe this award will be the beginning of our new chapter. In recent years, we have learned that every moment is precious. So in 2022, we will focus on ..." said Jungkook, who couldn't finish his sentence because he was happy.
At the 2021 AMAs, BTS also won the Favorite Pop Song trophy for the single Butter and Favorite Pop Duo or Group. That saw them beat AJR, Glass Animals, Maroon 5, and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars, Anderson . Paak) for the category.
"Thank you very much for four years (of getting the AMA trophy); this means a lot to us because we are a small boy band from Korea who are united because of love and music," said RM BTS at the 2021 AMA.
"Spread love and good vibes. Thank you very much," he said.
It was the third time BTS won the Favorite Duo or Group trophy at the American Music Awards. Previously, they had collected the trophy since the 2019 AMAs, as well as the 2020 AMAs.
However, they first won the AMA trophy in 2018 by becoming Favorite Social Artist.
At the 2021 AMAs, BTS had fun on stage with Coldplay performing their collaboration, My Universe, for the first time.
In that appearance, BTS was seen in shades of gray and black. Their appearance was greeted with screams from fans who had been waiting for it all this time.
The 2021 American Music Awards (AMA) is the largest fan vote-based awards ceremony in the US. The event was held at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, on Sunday (21/11) evening US time. Bruno Mars and Anderson opened the event.
This achievement earned BTS a special congratulations from South Korean President Moon Jae-in on the group's Artist of the Year title at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMA).
BTS's victory in the biggest fan vote event became a new history because the Butter singer was the first Asian musician to win the highest title at the AMA.
"I want to congratulate and thank BTS for winning the main AMA award," Moon Jae-in said in a statement on social media, Tuesday (23/11).
He then mentioned a discussion on Korea's Soft Power held by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. In the event, Korea was praised by a professor from Harvard University, Joseph Nye.
Nye assessed that South Korea has succeeded in showing soft power by combining economic success and democracy. Its culture has succeeded in dominating the world.

While on the other hand, Nye said many Koreans feel their country is still lagging even though it has achieved success in recent decades.
"The BTS award at the AMAs confirms that once again," said Moon Jae-in.
"What do you think? Don't you think you deserve to have confidence and pride now?"
BTS became the first Asian musician and idol to win the Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards (AMA).
Throughout history, the Artist of the Year award has almost always been awarded to an American musician. U2, an Irish boy band, won the trophy in 2002.
Then, One Direction, a British-Irish boy band, has also won Artist of the Year several times, such as at the 2014 AMAs and 2015 AMAs.
However, the Artist of the Year award is currently the most owned by Taylor Swift. He has collected the trophy thanks to winning in the 2009 AMAs, 2011, 2013, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
