A round bamboo dining pod sits under a thatched roof, set with white linen and lit by lanterns. A river runs behind it in the dark. It looks like a film set, but it is a real table at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, and it helped Indonesia win big this month.

The World Travel Awards 2026 Indonesia results came out in October 2026. Indonesian resorts and destinations took eight titles in the Asia Winners category. The winners are in three places: Bali, the Riau Islands, and North Sulawesi.

AT A GLANCE

  • 8 Asia Winners titles for Indonesia in 2026
  • 3 regions: Bali, Riau Islands, North Sulawesi
  • 6 of 8 wins went to Bali
  • 3 titles for Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort in 2026

What are the World Travel Awards?

The World Travel Awards (WTA) is a yearly awards programme for the travel industry. It gives out titles by region, such as Asia, Africa and North America. Resorts often ask fans to vote for them online, so a win means both industry respect and public support.

Who won what for Indonesia?

Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, won Asia’s Leading Boutique Resort. Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort took Asia’s Leading Family Villa Resort. Uluman Eco Luxury Resort won Asia’s Leading Green Resort.

Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort won Asia’s Leading Resort. Waterbom Bali took Asia’s Leading Water Park. Bali itself won Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.

Outside Bali, Bunaken Oasis Dive Resort and Spa in Manado, North Sulawesi, won Asia’s Leading Dive Resort. Bawah Reserve in the Anambas Islands, Riau Islands, won Asia’s Leading Water Villa Resort.

Why is Bunaken Oasis the story to watch?

Here is the surprising part. Bunaken Oasis has won “Indonesia’s Leading Dive Resort” at the WTA for at least seven years in a row. Yet 2026 is the first time it has been named Asia’s Leading Dive Resort.

The resort sits on Liang Beach, at the edge of Bunaken National Marine Park. Divers go there for the reef walls and small creatures like painted frogfish. It is a reminder that Indonesia’s best travel stories are not only in Bali.

Is Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua a surprise winner?

Not really. The resort has now been recognised for four years in a row. In 2026 it won three titles: Asia’s Leading Resort, Indonesia’s Leading Resort, and Bali’s Leading Family Resort.

Winning at the Asia, country and island level in the same year is rare. It shows the resort is strong at every level, not just in one category.

What does this mean for travellers?

Bali dominates the list, but the list is also more varied than you might expect. It includes a family villa resort, a water park, an eco resort, and a water villa resort on a remote island chain.

If you want a trip that does not look like everyone’s Instagram feed, look at the two wins outside Bali. Bunaken is in North Sulawesi, and Bawah Reserve is in the Anambas Islands.
