Students from the Informatics program at Institut Teknologi Nasional Bandung  better known as ITENAS  just returned from Shenzhen, China, carrying something most international competitors never do: a full sweep across multiple award categories at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026 Global Final.

What is the Huawei ICT Competition ?

It's one of the largest technology talent contests in the world, organized by Huawei to identify top ICT skill among university students globally. The 2025-2026 Global Final was held in Shenzhen, China, drawing thousands of participants from universities across dozens of countries. Competition tracks cover Cloud, Network, and Computing — three pillars of modern enterprise infrastructure. Indonesian university students represent their country after advancing through national rounds.

The ITENAS team  listed as Tarsisius Kristyadi, Moh Ilyas, Muhammad Fariz Alfaritzi, and Hendra Darmawan  didn't just show up. They won First Prize in the Cloud Track, Second Prize in the Network Track, and Third Prize in the Computing Track. That's not a participation ribbon situation. That's a podium in every room they walked into.

Here's the part worth sharing: most international tech competitions are dominated by students from China, South Korea, or Eastern Europe  countries with decades of STEM infrastructure built into their school systems. ITENAS is a mid-sized private university in Bandung. Its students don't come with Silicon Valley internships on their CVs. They come with hunger.

The atmosphere in the final hall in Shenzhen  the noise of hundreds of competitors from Rwanda, China, and across Southeast Asia filling the auditorium  made the three trophies feel heavier than their weight in acrylic.

What Tracks Did ITENAS Win at Huawei ICT 2025?

The team competed across three technical domains. Cloud Track earned them First Prize  the top award which focuses on cloud architecture and Huawei Cloud deployment skills. Network Track brought home Second Prize, covering enterprise networking fundamentals and advanced routing. Computing Track closed with Third Prize, testing skills in AI computing and high-performance systems.

Winning across three separate tracks  not just one  signals that ITENAS didn't send specialists. They sent a team that could compete on any technical turf.

Why Does This Matter for Indonesia's Tech Scene?

Indonesia's digital economy is projected to reach $130 billion by 2025 (Google-Temasek-Bain e-Conomy SEA report). But the narrative around Indonesian tech talent has long centered on Jakarta's startup scene. ITENAS's win reframes that story  pointing the spotlight at Bandung, at state-supported engineering education, and at the students who grind without the glamour of a Sudirman office address.
